Day 01
Arrive and head to Morokologa Camp
You’ll be met at the airport by one of our Camp crew who will take you to the expedition camp, Morokologa. Once you arrive, you can take in the amazing views before receiving a safety briefing and an introduction into bush village life. After you've settled in, it's time for dinner and into bed for a good night's sleep.
Day 02
Environmental Conservation Project
Today, you'll get hands-on with vital wildlife conservation work, taking part in snare removal, invasive plant clearance, and habitat restoration. These practical tasks offer an insight into life as a ranger in the African bush, giving you the chance to make a real and lasting impact on the local ecosystem. Your efforts will help create a safer environment for native wildlife and support the recovery of essential habitats, allowing biodiversity to thrive. Along the way, you’ll also deepen your understanding of the savannah’s unique flora and fauna, the threats it faces, and the steps being taken to protect it for generations to come.
Day 03
Bushwalk, Bushlaw, and Learning New Survival Skills
Today you'll have an introduction to primitive fire making techniques from all over the world, including some interactive guidance towards development of a unique set of skills, a friction fire making demo and finally the challenge of making your own friction fire. You'll also gain hands-on bush skills as you learn how to identify animal tracks and droppings, navigate the reserve, recognise dominant tree species, and understand the basic geology of the landscape.
Day 04
Community Uplift Project
Partnering with a local NGO, you'll contribute to a community upliftment, education, and development center. Your activities will include painting classrooms, engaging in educational games with local school children, and planting and harvesting vegetables that support an ongoing feeding program. You'll also take part in preparing and enjoying a delicious traditional lunch.
Day 05
Hike in Blyde River Canyon
Today you'll hike in the Blyde River Canyon along the banks of the Blyde Dam. As the third-largest canyon in the world, the Blyde River Canyon stands out for its lush, subtropical vegetation, earning it the nickname of a “green canyon.” It’s part of the spectacular Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, home to dramatic cliffs, tree lined slopes, and breathtaking viewpoints. You may have the chance to spot hippos or crocodiles during your hike! A packed lunch will be provided for this day.
Day 06
African Pottery Project
Today you'll have an introduction to primitive African pottery making techniques. This includes the initial sourcing and preparation of the clay, interactive guidance to the development of some pottery skills, a clay working demo and finally the opportunity to make your own pottery. The firing procedure will be explained during the session. The workshop will be delivered in two 3 hour parts with a lunch break in between.
Day 07
Kruger National Park Safari
Today you'll have a full day on Safari in the world renowned Kruger National Park - one of Africa's premier safari destinations where the Big 5 roam: Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo! Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for all the amazing wildlife on the way. A packed lunch will be provided for you for the day. You will also have the opportunity to buy local handmade items and gifts during your day out.
Day 08
Goodbye South Africa
Today you'll be saying goodbye to South Africa and catching your flight home. Even though you're on your way home, the memories and the impact you've made will last you a lifetime!
